Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills Stream

 

The Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills stream gives foreign workers with a job offer in specific in-demand occupations, such as in agriculture, construction, and other select occupations, the opportunity to apply to permanently live and work in Ontario. This stream is open to foreign workers in and outside of Canada.

 

You must first register in the OINP’s Expression of Interest System and receive an invitation to apply before you can apply online to be nominated by the Ontario government for permanent residence.

 

If you are nominated, your next step is to apply to the federal government through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). They make the final decision on who becomes a permanent resident.

Job Offer Requirements

  • The job must be for a full-time and permanent position.
  • The wages being offered must be the Median Wages of the province.
  • Work location must be in Ontario.
  • The job being offered must be from an eligible occupation.

The position offered can be in any location in Ontario (inside and outside the Greater Toronto Area) and must be in one of the following occupations in National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER category 4 or 5:

  1. NOC 44101 – Home support workers, caregivers and related occupations
  2. NOC 65202 – Meat cutters and fishmongers – retail and wholesale
  3. NOC 75110 – Construction trades helpers and labourers
  4. NOC 75119 – Other trades helpers and labourers
  5. NOC 84120 – Specialized livestock workers and farm machinery operators
  6. NOC 85100 – Livestock labourers
  7. NOC 85101 – Harvesting labourers
  8. NOC 85103 – Nursery and greenhouse labourers
  9. NOC 94141 – Industrial butchers and meat cutters, poultry preparers and related workers

The position offered must be outside the Greater Toronto Area (City of Toronto, Durham, Halton, York and Peel regions) and must be in one of the following occupations in National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER category 4 or 5:

  1. NOC 14400 – Shippers and Receivers
  2. NOC 14402 – Production logistics workers
  3. NOC 65320 – Dry cleaning, laundry and related occupations
  4. NOC 74200 – Railway yard and track maintenance workers
  5. NOC 74203 – Automotive and heavy truck and equipment parts installers and servicers
  6. NOC 74204 – Utility maintenance workers
  7. NOC 74205 – Public works maintenance equipment operators and related workers
  8. NOC 75101 – Material handlers

Masters Graduate Stream

The Masters Graduate stream gives international graduates with an Ontario masters degree the opportunity to apply to permanently live and work in Ontario. You must first register in the OINP’s Expression of Interest System and receive an invitation to apply before you can apply online to be nominated by the Ontario government for permanent residence. If you are nominated, your next step is to apply to the federal government through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). They make the final decision on who becomes a permanent resident.

Stream Requirements:

Education

  • Applicant must have completed at least one academic year of full-time study. Part-time study may be eligible if the program’s duration is equivalent to at least one full-time academic year. 
  • The degree must be from an eligible Ontario university 

Language

Applicant must have CLB level 7 either in English or French, and the test results must be within 2 years prior to the application date. 

Residency in Ontario

Applicants must have lived in Ontario for at least 1 year. 

Settlements Funds

Applicants must show they have enough money to support themselves and any dependent family members. 

You can meet this requirement through one or a combination of any of the following:

  • Funds as demonstrated by the balance listed in bank statements, or statements of accounts showing other investments such as non-locked in, fixed term deposits, mutual funds, etc. 
  • Annual earnings from ongoing employment in Ontario 
  • A job offer in Ontario 

Intention to live in Ontario

Applicants must show the intention to live in Ontario 

  • You must intend to live in Ontario after you’ve been granted permanent residence. 

We determine this by examining your ties to Ontario, which can include doing things like:

  • Working or having worked in Ontario 
  • Getting job offers or applying/interviewing for jobs 
  • Studying 
  • Volunteering 
  • Leasing or owning property 
  • Visiting 
  • Having professional networks and affiliations, family ties and personal relationships  

Residency at the time of application 

At the time you apply, you must be either: 

  • Living in Ontario with legal status (study permit, work permit, visitor record)
  • Living outside Canada 

You don’t qualify if you’re living in a province or territory in Canada other than Ontario at the time you apply. 

Application Period

  • You must submit your application within two years of completing the requirements necessary to  obtain your masters degree.
  • This means that the date on your degree must be within two years of your OINP
    application submission date, not the date you received the invitation to apply. For example, if your degree is dated June 1, 2021, you must have registered an EOI, received an Invitation to Apply,and
     submitted your application on or before June 1, 2023. 
  • If you don’t have your degree yet, use the date on the official letter from your university which states when your degree will be granted. 

OINP Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream ​

The Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream gives foreign workers with a job offer in a skilled occupation the opportunity to apply to live and work in Ontario permanently. Your job offer must be in a skilled occupation at TEER (Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities) category 0,1,2, or 3 of the National Occupational Classification (NOC). This stream is open to foreign workers in and outside of Canada. You must first register in the OINP’s Expression of Interest System and receive an invitation to apply before you can apply online to be nominated by the Ontario government for permanent residence. If you are nominated, your next step is to apply to the federal government through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The Employer Job Offer: International Student stream gives international students with a job offer in a skilled occupation the opportunity to apply to permanently live and work in Ontario. Your job offer must be in a skilled occupation at TEER (Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities) category 0, 1, 2, or 3 of the National Occupational Classification (NOC). This stream is open to international students inside and outside of Canada. Work experience is not a mandatory criterion under this stream. You must first register in the OINP’s Expression of Interest System and receive an invitation to apply before you can apply online to be nominated by the Ontario government for permanent residence. If you are nominated, your next step is to apply to the federal government through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). They make the final decision on who becomes a permanent resident.

Ontario’s Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream is an immigration stream under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). It gives foreign nationals with Ontario work experience in eligible skilled trades the opportunity to apply to permanently live and work in Ontario. You must have a valid profile in the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC’s) Express Entry system and receive a Notification of Interest from Ontario before you can apply online to be nominated by the Ontario government for permanent residence. If you are nominated, your next step will be to apply to the federal government through IRCC. They make the final decision on who becomes a permanent resident.

Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream is an immigration stream under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). It gives foreign workers with the required skilled work experience, language abilities, and education the opportunity to apply to permanently live and work in Ontario. You do not need a job offer to apply to this stream. You must have a valid profile in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC’s) Express Entry system and receive a Notification of Interest from Ontario before you can apply online to be nominated by the Ontario government for permanent residence.
